CERAMICS TOURS INDIA
The Golden Triangle Ceramics Trail:
North Edition
Dates:
Dec 5-19, 2025

The North Edition takes you on a visual and sensory fest where you experience, meet and interact with artists, craftspeople, carvers, and potters. While the focus is on the rich history of terracotta pottery in the country, we’ll also get a glimpse of the heritage of the different arts and crafts including stone, metal, wood and textiles.
We start the trip on a high note – by giving you a glimpse of the Taj Mahal! From there we journey into Jaipur and visit some of Jaipur’s iconic monuments, participate in workshops, interact with fellow potters, and watch traditional terracotta potters their magic on clay.
The journey continues as we then fly east (a long transit day) to reach Dharamshala, in Himachal Pradesh, where the weather will be cooler. Depending on availability, we’ll stay in a well-appointed resort/property. We might also divide our time between two locations. In the artist village, you’ll experience working with kick-wheels and breathing in crisp mountain air. On the schedule, we’ll plan to spend some time learning the art of slip-trailing and transforming surfaces into a work of art. Depending on interest, there’s also a possibility of exploring more advanced techniques. We’ll spend another day exploring other hands-on workshops (soap making/print-making: all depending on availability). And on the final day, we head to the charming town of Dharamshala and McLeodganj, and explore the abode of the HRH the Dalai Lama, stroll through the serene Norbulingka Institute and have a meal at one of the cosy cafes in the area.
We then pack our bags and return to Delhi with our brains buzzing with ideas and hearts full! Spend a day shopping and sightseeing, and then prepare to say goodbye and fly back home.

Golden Triangle Ceramics Trail: The North Edition Itinerary
A Unique Blend of Culture, Art, and Heritage
This experiential tour is an opportunity to dive deep into India’s rich ceramics culture, from terracotta to stoneware. Along the way, soak in the country’s fascinating traditions, art, crafts, cuisine, history, and breathtaking architecture.
Discover Delhi – The Dynamic Capital
Your journey starts in Delhi, where we’ll set the stage for an exciting adventure ahead. Meet fellow artists, explore an inspiring art center, and visit local studio potters (based on availability). If time allows, we’ll venture to a traditional potters’ village on the city’s outskirts for a closer look at age-old pottery techniques.
Marvel at the Taj Mahal in Agra
Next, we travel to Agra to witness the awe-inspiring sunrise over the Taj Mahal, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. Be captivated by its mesmerizing white marble façade, intricate stonework, and breathtaking architecture.
Jaipur – The Pink City & A Hub of Creativity
From Agra, we move on to Jaipur, where you’ll have the chance to interact with successful studio potters who have turned their passion into thriving businesses. We may also visit a studio set in a serene farm setting for an exciting Obvara or Raku firing session. But that’s not all—immerse yourself in Jaipur’s artistic traditions with hands-on block printing workshops and an interactive session on the city’s world-famous blue pottery.
Jaipur is a feast for the senses! Take in iconic landmarks like Hawa Mahal and Jal Mahal, explore bustling bazaars, and shop for exquisite textiles, paintings, sculptures, and carvings—the perfect souvenirs for yourself and loved ones back home!
Journey into the North – Dharamshala and McLeodganj
With a mind full of inspiration, we travel to spend some time in the foothills of the Himalayas—Dharamshala—home to one of India’s oldest pottery studios. We will also get time to explore the surroundings, including Dharamshala and McLeodganj. Dharamshala is the abode of HRH, the Dalai Lama’s abode and we’ll pay a visit to the temple. Monasteries are dotting the hillsides where you enjoy moments of peace and serenity. For the adventurous, there’s a short but steep hike up Bhagsu waterfalls and a cafe as a reward at the top!
A Serene Pottery Studio
As part of the experience, we will use kick-wheels and spend some time exploring clay and slip-trailing. We can experiment with various designs and try our hand on some techniques. There’s also time for more advanced techniques, which we can decide depending on the availability of the group and studio. Again, if there’s time and availability of artists, we can visit other artists and their studios in this area, do a raku firing session etc. Whether you’re immersed in clay, or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere, this will be an amazing interest.
Final Stop – Back to Delhi
Before we say our goodbyes, we return to Delhi for some last-minute shopping and sightseeing. We have some time to take in some memorable sights and sounds of the capital city. As the journey comes to an end, you’ll leave not only with new friendships and fresh ideas for your artistic practice but also with unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime!

Most meals during the trip will be either at the hotels or at a chosen establishment on sightseeing/active days. Please note that there are ample options available for all dietary requirements and cuisine at most hotels with both Indian, Asian and Western cuisine available quite widely. However, people with severe allergies might find navigating food challenging, especially nuts and dairy, which tends to be quite prevalent in the country.
